Idaho Aquifer Plan on Track

by Associated Press
Capital Press, February 25, 2011

BOISE, Idaho -- A 10-year plan aimed at restoring the underground aquifer that supplies water across southern Idaho is on track to get more state funding for the upcoming fiscal year.

Idaho budget writers approved $2.4 million last week for the Comprehensive Aquifer Management Plan.

CAMP is the plan to manage the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer and other water resources, with costs shared by the state and water users. Moscow Democratic Rep. Shirley Ringo says the money would be better spent on other needs in a tight budget year.

But Ketchum Democratic Rep Wendy Jaquet says sending that money elsewhere would send a negative message to those involved in the program.
