Some Avista Customers
May See Rate Decrease

by Associated Press
Local News 8, July 1, 2009

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Avista's residential and small-farm customers in Washington and Idaho could see a decrease in their electric bills next month, if regulators in both states approve the company's request to pass on an increase in benefits from the Bonneville Power Administration's Residential Exchange Program.

Under the plan, residential and small-farm customers using an average of 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month would see a nearly 3% reduction in power bills - worth about $2.31.

The change is a result of a recent settlement agreement signed by Avista and the BPA, resolving a long-standing dispute over how Avista's customer benefits were calculated.
