Hanford Nuclear Plant Back On Line

RICHLAND, Wash. - The only nuclear power plant in the Northwest is generating electricity again.

Energy Northwest says the Columbia Generating Station on the Hanford nuclear reservation went back on line Wednesday after being down more than a month for refueling and maintenance. It's scheduled to operate two years before in needs another refueling.

The 25-year-old plant produces enough electricity for one million homes. It's distributed through the Bonneville Power Administration.
