HydroWorld, December 16, 2013

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineer has awarded a US$670,641 contract to Precision Machine and Supply Inc. to repair a hydro turbine in the Bonneville hydropower plant's Second Powerhouse.

The Corps' Portland District most recently called for bids for the work in November.

Per the contract, Precision Machine and Supply will repair Main Unit 11, with work to include a new thrust collar and new one-piece thrust runner. The spring bed for Unit 11 is also to be shipped out and re-machined flat, removing no more than .010 inch.

The 1,076.6-MW hydroelectric project is located at the Bonneville Lock and Dam in Oregon and Washington. The Corps also recently took bids to refinish transformers at the plant.
