EI Solutions to Build Largest
Solar Facility in the Pacific Northwest

EI Solutions, the systems integration arm of Pasadena-based Energy Innovations, today announced that it has been awarded the contract to develop the Pacific Northwest's largest solar-powered generating facility for Puget Sound Energy, the utility subsidiary of Puget Energy. The company says the new 500-kilowatt solar-powered generating facility will roughly double Washington State's entire output of solar power and will be located alongside the utility's Wild Horse wind-power facility in central Washington.

EI Solutions says it topped a field of 12 finalists to design and construct the solar-power installation, which will be four times larger than any existing solar facility in the Northwest. In addition, this will be the first commercial installation to use solar panels manufactured in Washington State, according to EI Solutions.

The $3.7 million Wild Horse solar project will include more than 2,500 photovoltaic solar panels, mounted in two separate locations across five acres. EI Solutions says it is expected to begin construction of the solar project in June, with final completion planned before year's end, with the facility's designed output expected to serve the equivalent energy needs of about 300 households.

Energy Innovations is an IdeaLab startup.
