WALLA WALLA, Wash., U.S. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers canceled a solicitation and said it would issue a new call soon for bids to supply new lock gate gearboxes for the 810-MW Lower Monumental project on the Lower Snake River in Washington.

The Corps previously called for bids by Sept. 22 in separate solicitations for new lock gearboxes and for restoration of two existing gearboxes at Lower Monumental. No further notices were issued concerning the gearbox restoration tender.

The solicitations are among several by the Corps' Walla Walla District for Lower Monumental.

In a new pre-solicitation notice, the Corps said it would seek fabrication and delivery of an unspecified number of lock gearboxes to Lower Monumental. The units are to be of the parallel shaft type, floor mounted, entirely enclosed in welded steel housing designed to maintain accurate alignment of all shafting and gearing.

The pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering No. W912EF11Q0001 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box. Prospective contractors must register in the government's Central Contractor Registration database, www.ccr.gov.

For information, contact Valerie Reller, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, 201 N. Third Ave., Walla Walla, WA 99362-1876; (1) 509-527-7215.
