Craig Would Expand Nuclear Power Plants through Idaho

BOISE (AP) -- Idaho Sen. Larry Craig said he is working to bring more nuclear power generation plants to Idaho.

Craig met Thursday with Corbin A. McNeill, Chaiman and Chief Executive Officer of Exelon Corp., to disucss future expansion of the company's interest in nuclear energy on a national level and in Idaho.

Exelon Nuclear operates the most nuclear power reactors in the nation and is third-largest in the world. The company's 17 reactors in the U.S. represents nearly 20 percent of the nuclear power capacity in the country.

"Nuclear power is envionmentally friendly and will continue to meet a vital part of our nation's energy needs and energy independence," Craig said.
