Dry Side Needs Dams to
Keep Rates Reasonable

by Paul Chartrand
Seattle Post-Intelligencer - June 9, 2005

Here we go again. Someone from the west side of the state complaining about the dams on the east side. Todd Sloan (Letters, Tuesday) said that the dams provide minimal benefits. Minimal benefits? With the price of everything going through the roof, cheap power is a great benefit.

The salmon will survive regardless if the dams are there or not. If the salmon haven't created billions of dollars in economic activity, it certainly won't happen if the dams are removed.
