Dworshak Reservoir Releases Water
Ahead of Schedule for Endangered Fish

It's part of the federal plan to lessen the effects of the Lower Snake River dams on juvenile Salmon and steelhead.

Dworshak Reservoir formed when Dworshak Dam inundated the world's largest steelhead habitat and now, just downstream, sits the world's largest hatchery production of steelhead. AHSAHKA, ID - Federal officials are releasing water from Dworshak Reservoir ahead of schedule, several weeks ahead in fact.

They're doing it to cool the areas downstream where federally protected Salmon are. The goal is to keep the water in those areas below 68 degrees.
