BPA to Manage Energy Efficiency Programs
Using Nexant TrakSmart Technology

Business Wire, July 18, 2011

Nexant, Inc., a global provider of smart grid and clean energy technologies, announced today that it has begun testing the new Energy Efficiency Central (EE Central) system that the company is developing for BPA. It will replace BPA's existing Planning, Tracking & Reporting (PTR) system currently used by over 140 Pacific Northwest utilities and stakeholders to manage and report on their energy conservation and renewable resource activities.

"Early last year, we chose Nexant from a competitive solicitation to help us develop EE Central, which will provide our customers with a user-friendly platform employing the latest technology to report their energy efficiency results. EE Central will also streamline our ability to assess and share program performance results," said Mike Weedall, Vice President of BPA Energy Efficiency. "The system will help us as we work with our customers to meet aggressive energy efficiency targets included in the Northwest Power and Conservation Council's Sixth Power Plan."

EE Central's core functionalities include an extensive common EE measures library, advanced process flow management, document management and repository, flexible reporting, and user dashboards, as well as the ability for real-time integration with external tools such as savings calculators. "EE Central, being built on top of Nexant's next generation TrakSmart platform, will deliver unparalleled flexibility, extensibility, interoperability, and the most advanced Energy Efficiency planning, tracking, and reporting capability in the market," said Martin Milani, Nexant Chief Technology Officer.

"We are able to help BPA accelerate the adoption of new advanced operational technologies at a very competitive cost and with minimal impact to BPA's internal support resources," said Terry Fry, Nexant Senior Vice President of Demand Management. "Both BPA and Nexant are looking forward to going live with the core version of EE Central by October 1, 2011. The additional features to come on stream shortly thereafter will deliver additional value to the utility user community."
