EnerNOC Providing Demand Response
for Bonneville Power Administration

by Staff
Renew Grid, February 3, 2011

EnerNOC Inc., a provider of commercial, institutional and industrial demand response, says it will provide Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) with demand-response capacity managed by EnerNOC's DemandSMART application to facilitate grid stability as BPA integrates wind powered generation into its transmission system.

The project, led by renewable energy consultancy Ecofys US Inc., will utilize EnerNOC's demand-response technology to act as a balancing resource for changing system needs. This project makes use of EnerNOC's demand-response capabilities to balance load both when wind output decreases and when it increases suddenly.

By providing a demand-side solution for maintaining load stability, EnerNOC's implementation of demand-response technology is designed to help reduce BPA's investments in supply-side and storage infrastructure to prevent grid destabilization due to the integration of variable generation sources like wind.
