U.S. Seeks Equipment, Work at 980-MW McNary

McNary Dam on the Columbia River WALLA WALLA, Wash., -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is calling for several types of equipment and work to be performed at 980-MW McNary Dam in Oregon.

The Corps' Walla Walla District sought information in April on small firms capable of performing a condition monitoring assessment of a turbine-generator at McNary on the Columbia River.

The district currently seeks bids by May 26 from small businesses to supply telecommunications high-voltage isolation equipment at the project. A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W912EF11Q0074 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Corps sees July bidding for McNary fish bypass relocation

The Corps' Walla Walla District plans to take bids to relocate a juvenile fish bypass outfall pipe at McNary. The agency said it expects to issue a request for proposals about June 20, with bids to be due about July 20.

The Corps sought information in December from firms capable of performing the work.

The district plans to seek bids to relocate the juvenile fish bypass outfall at McNary from its current location about 250 feet downstream from the dam in front of the powerhouse to a new location about 1,100 feet downstream from the dam and 1,200 feet away from the bank out into the river. The work is valued at between $10 million and $25 million.

Fishway exit cranes to be replaced at McNary

The Corps also plans to take bids to replace fishway exit cranes 9 and 10 at McNary. The agency said it expects to issue a request for qualifications about May 23, with responses to be due no sooner than 30 days later.

The work is to include design, manufacture, installation, and testing of two portal or derrick cranes at north and south fish exits of McNary Dam. Cranes shall be rated for total load of 10 tons at a pick radius of 40 feet with a full jib rotation of 360 degrees.
