Fall Chinook Season
to Open in August

Spring Chinook fishing in the Northwest is popular either from a boat or from the bank.  Let's go fishing. JEROME, Idaho -- Some 27,000 chinook salmon are expected to return to the Snake River Basin this fall -- and anglers will have a chance to catch their share starting Aug. 18, when the fall season opens on parts of the Snake, Clearwater and Salmon rivers.

This is the ninth year of fall chinook fishing in the Gem State. Idaho Fish and Game commissioners approved the chinook season last Thursday, July 27.

According to the department, areas opening include:
