Fall Chinook Return in Record Numbers

by Staff
BPA Journal, October 2010

As of Sept. 20, nearly 18,000 adult fall chinook had been counted returning up the Snake River through Lower Granite Dam on their way to their spawning grounds.

That's a new record since counts began in 1975. And the run's not done yet. The fall run continues through Dec. 15. Snake River fall chinook are listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.
