Anglers continue to catch spring Chinook in the Willamette River.

Angling for summer steelhead is open from the Astoria-Megler Bridge upstream to the Oregon/Washington border. The retention of Chinook and sockeye is prohibited.

Angling for shad is open from Buoy 10 upstream to the state border.

White sturgeon retention is closed from Buoy 10 upstream to McNary Dam but remains an option for catch-and-release fishing. Anglers are reminded that spawning sanctuaries are currently in effect.

Panfish and bass are biting well in local lakes

Trout fishing is fair in lowland lakes, good in high country lakes and streams.

Walleye angling is good in the John Day Pool.

Salmon/Steelhead

Columbia from Megler-Astoria Bridge upstream to Hwy 395 Bridge at Pasco: Effective through June 30, the daily limit is two hatchery steelhead. Release all salmon. Effective July 1 through July 31, the daily limit is one hatchery steelhead. Salmon and steelhead night fishing closure. Release all salmon.

Columbiat tributaries: Effective June 1, barbless hooks are voluntary for salmon and steelhead directed fisheries in some tributaries to the Columbia River from Buoy 10 to McNary Dam. Fishery Reports for Columbia mainstem

During Saturday's flight 58 salmonid boats and 122 Washington bank anglers were counted from Skamokawa upstream to the Interstate 5 Bridge.

Nearly 400 shad anglers were counted on the Washington shore just below Bonneville Dam during Saturday's flight (6/15). Yesterday's dam count was just over 200,000 fish, which pushes the season total over 5.4 million to date.

Salmon/Steelhead Columbia mainstem

• Bonneville: five bank anglers released one chinook

• Interstate-5: one bank angler had no catch.

• Vancouver: 17 bank rods released one chinook jack. 10 bank rods released seven chinook and two steelhead.

• Woodland: 36 bank anglers had no catch

• Kalama: 17 bank rods released one jack chinook.

• Longview: 171 bank anglers kept 14 steelhead and released three.

• Cowlitz River, Interstate 5 Br downstream: 4 bank rods had no catch. Two boats/four rods had no catch.

• Cowlitz above the I-5 Bridge: Seven bank rods had no catch. 19 boats/65 rods kept 15 steelhead and released one steelhead.

• Kalama River: 15 bank anglers had no catch.

• Lewis River: one bank angler had no catch. Two boats/three rods had no catch.

• Klickitat below Fisher Hill Bridge: one bank angler had no catch.

• Klickitat above No. 5 Fishway: one bank angler had no catch. (WDFW)
