Salmon, Steelhead and Shad:

(Dick Borneman) A spring chinook caught in early March 2009 near the upper end of Bachelor Island

Anglers had the best success in the gorge where boat anglers averaged 2.1 Chinook caught per boat, and bank anglers averaged 0.11 Chinook caught per angler. In Troutdale, boat anglers averaged 1.5 Chinook caught per boat, while anglers fishing in the Portland to Westport area averaged 0.64 Chinook caught per boat.

Gorge Bank:

Weekend checking showed two adult fall Chinook and four jack Chinook kept for 18 bank anglers.

Gorge Boats:

Weekend checking showed 83 adult fall Chinook and six jack Chinook kept for 40 boats (101 anglers).

Troutdale Boats:

Weekend checking showed six adult fall Chinook kept for four boats (seven anglers).

Portland to Westport Bank:

Weekly checking showed no catch for four bank anglers.

Portland to Westport Boats:

Weekend checking showed seven adult fall Chinook and four jack Chinook kept for 11 boats (25 anglers).

Estuary above Tongue Point boats:

No report.

Estuary Bank (Jones Beach to Clatsop Spit):

Weekend checking showed no catch for nine bank anglers.

Estuary Boats (Tongue Point to Buoy 10):

No report.

The Dalles Pool:

Weekly checking showed two Chinook and one adipose fin-clipped steelhead kept for 32 bank anglers; and 66 Chinook, two coho and two adipose fin-clipped steelhead kept, plus one Chinook and one unclipped steelhead released for 53 boats (134 anglers).
