Weekend Fishing Opportunities:

Sturgeon retention is open from The Dalles Dam upstream to the John Day Dam.

The Columbia River is open for fall Chinook, coho and steelhead from Buoy 10 upstream to the Oregon/Washington border. Fishing for fall Chinook is limited now that most of them have passed over the dam; however; anglers are still catching a few below Bonneville.

Walleye fishing is good in Troutdale.

Salmon, Steelhead and Shad:

On the lower Columbia this past weekend there were 97 salmonid boats and 42 Oregon bank anglers counted from Bonneville Dam downstream to Tongue Point on Saturday's (10/19) flight. Anglers had the best success in the gorge where boat anglers averaged 0.97 Chinook and 0.4 coho caught per boat, and bank anglers averaged 0.13 Chinook and 0.02 coho caught per angler. In Troutdale, boat anglers averaged 0.03 Chinook and 0.19 coho caught per boat, while anglers fishing the Portland to Longview area averaged 0.10 Chinook and 0.10 coho caught per boat.

Gorge Bank:

Weekly checking showed six adult fall Chinook and one adipose fin-clipped adult coho kept for 45 bank anglers.

Gorge Boats:

Weekly checking showed 32 adult fall Chinook, two jack Chinook, and 12 adipose fin-clipped adult coho kept, plus two adult Chinook and two unclipped coho released for 35 boats (97 anglers).

Troutdale Boats:

Weekly checking showed nine adipose fin-clipped adult coho kept, plus two Chinook and three unclipped coho released for 63 boats (107 anglers).

Portland to Longview Bank:

Weekly checking showed no catch for nine bank anglers.

Portland to Longview Boats:

Weekly checking showed one adult fall Chinook kept, plus one unclipped coho released for 10 boats (19 anglers).

Bonneville Pool:

Weekly checking showed 148 adult fall Chinook, 15 jack Chinook, and 95 adipose fin-clipped coho kept, plus 19 Chinook, three unclipped coho and three unclipped steelhead released for 92 boats (221 anglers).

The Dalles Pool:

Weekly checking showed no catch for two bank anglers; and one Chinook kept for six boats (13 anglers).
