Spring Chinook Salmon Fishing on Snake River to
Reopen for Two More Days Near Little Goose Dam

by Staff
Big Country News, June 3, 2021

Gulls in search of easy eating circle the turbulent water below Little Goose Dam on the Snake River as water runs over the spillway during a spring runoff. STARBUCK - Chinook Salmon fishing on the Snake River will reopen for two additional days near the Little Goose Dam. Fishing will be open on Friday, June 4 and Sunday, June 6, after the season was closed on May 12 after the original spring season quota had been met.

The change and reopening comes as the 2021 return of upriver spring Chinook salmon was upgraded by the U.S. vs Oregon Technical Advisory Committee to 87,000. This allows for additional harvest.

Chinook salmon fishing will be open below Little Goose Dam, from Texas Rapids boat launch (south side of the river upstream of the mouth of Tucannon River) to the fishing restriction boundary below Little Goose Dam. This zone includes the rock and concrete area between the juvenile bypass return pipe and Little Goose Dam along the south shoreline of the facility (includes the walkway area locally known as "the Wall" in front of the juvenile collection facility).
