U.S. Seeks HVAC Upgrades for 402-MW Dworshak Hydro Project by Staff HydroWorld, February 11, 2015

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to upgrade the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system at the 402-MW Dworshak Dam hydroelectric project in Idaho. Bids are due Feb. 20.

The Corps' Walla Walla District requested information in December on firms able to perform winding replacement and cavitation repair of the Unit 3 turbine-generator at Dworshak on the North Fork Clearwater River. It also took bids in 2014 for temperature transmitters and said in 2013 it planned to seek bids for head cover repair of Unit 3's 250-MW Francis turbine.

The Corps now seeks bids to upgrade the industrial HVAC system in Dworshak Dam powerhouse. Work is to include demolition and replacement of some ductwork, upgrading or replacing fans up to 50,000 CFM, air handlers and water coils, replacement of a pneumatic control system with a digital control system, and other work.

Expected to require 220 days, the work is valued at $1 million to $5 million.
