Problem is in Ocean

I see once again we are going to take out the dams to increase the population of salmon. Trust me, that will not happen, I mean the increase in the salmon. You salmon people never seem to learn anything.

Lower Granite Dam closed the Snake River in 1975, 30 years and 7 1/2 salmon life cycles ago. If you use the rule of 50 percent or one-half, in seven life cycles the salmon at Lewiston would be down to a few hundred. If you used 0.8 or 0.9, you would come to the same conclusion. Therefore, one must conclude the dams are not the reason the salmon population appears to have decreased.

The salmon population lies in its natural enemies. The sea lions and others in the ocean are the problem. You salmon people need to go to the federal government and get the hunting of seals lifted at least for a couple of years.

Before we remove dams we need to run a test; turn the power off in the hottest and coldest weather and stop irrigation when it's most needed. We need to find out if anyone will miss them besides the salmon people.
