Raising Rates Would Send Jobs Away

by Doug Geisler, North Portland
The Oregonian, February 18, 2005

I am outraged that the Bush administration would force the Bonneville Power Administration to change its rates ("Bush plan rewrites BPA mission," Feb. 14). This would be an additional tax on businesses and citizens.

Taxpayers put up the money for the dams that the BPA oversees for inexpensive electricity. It's our power. Businesses made decisions to locate to the Northwest because of our low costs. The Bush administration wants to drive good jobs from the region.

I urge everyone to support our congressional delegation in its fight against this plan.
