Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has renewed the appointment for Tom Karier as a Washington member of the Northwest Power and Conservation Council.

Karier is the longest serving member of the Council, having first been appointed by Gov. Gary Locke in 1998.

Prior to serving on the Council, Karier was an associate dean at Eastern Washington University and a professor of economics with a focus on energy and natural resource economics.

In addition to his past service on the Council, he has been a board member for the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance and a co-chair for a number of regional forums focused on regional adequacy, wind integration, and energy efficiency.

He has also served as Council chairman and chair of the Council's Power Committee.
