Annual Maintenance Set to Close
Navigation Locks on Snake and Columbia

(Army Corps of Engineers) Workers walk near the The Dalles downstream gate during the 2009 outage. WALLA WALLA -- Navigation locks at dams on the Snake and Columbia rivers will close at 6 a.m. Saturday for annual inspection and maintenance.

The locks at four dams on the Columbia River, Bonneville, The Dalles, John Day and McNary and at Lower Granite dam on the Snake River will resume service on March 16.

The locks at the three remaining Snake River dams, Ice Harbor, Lower Monumental and Little Goose, are scheduled to reopen on March 23 due to additional work required at those locations.

All eight dams are operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
