Union-Bulletin, May 13, 2010

Changes in navigation schedules will take effect on Columbia and Snake river dams.

Navigation locks at Columbia and Snake river dams will switch to summer schedules Saturday.

The new schedules will affect McNary Dam on the Columbia River and Ice Harbor, Lower Monumental, Little Goose and Lower Granite dams on the lower Snake River. All are operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Recreational craft traveling upstream will be able to lock through at 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Downstream travelers will be allowed to lock through at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Special lockages will be considered for flotillas or other special requirements sponsored by yacht clubs, marinas and other groups. Arrangements must be made at least 24 hours in advance with the dam operations manager or an appointed representative.

Commercial vessels will continue to be locked through upon arrival except during times specified for recreational vessels. At the discretion of the lock operator, recreational vessels may be allowed to lock through with commercial craft.

Information is available at 527-7115 or 527-7111.
