Lower Monumental Dam Reopens to Cars

The Lower Monumental Lock and Dam on the Snake River near Kahlotus has been reopened for public crossing.

Dam staff will escort vehicles across the dam on the half-hour between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, except on public holidays, including Labor Day. Little Goose Lock and Dam near Starbuck also will be closed Labor Day.

Passenger cars, motorcycles, open trucks, recreation vehicles, small vans and farm equipment, with the exception of fuel trucks, will be allowed to cross. Tour and school buses must contact the dam 24 hours in advance at 509-282-3219.

Photo ID is required for everyone age 16 and older. Foreign nationals must first receive proper security clearance with the district headquarters security office.
