Some Milton-Freewater Power
Customers Likely to See Rate Hike

by Staff
Walla Walla Union-Bulletin, June 26, 2011

MILTON-FREEWATER - Bonneville Power Administration customers will most likely see a 9 percent increase in rates starting next month.

At their regular Monday night meeting at the Milton-Freewater Library, City Councilors will review and most likely approve a price increase that will cost the average residential customer about $6.50 per month.

The increase is to offset recent rates hikes by Bonneville that were absorbed by the city's rate structure, according to council documents.

Bonneville is also expected to increase rates again in the fall, when it moves toward relying more on Tier 2 power sources - which are power sources outside the hydro-generation systems - in order to meet growing demand.
