Money Tree must be Out There Somewhere

by John W. LaFond
Seattle Post-Intelligencer - November 25, 2003

Joseph Bogaard's Nov. 19 letter about the advantages of wind power over hydroelectric power notes that the farmers on whose land the windmills are located receive lease payments of $3,000 per year per windmill. He says 2,200 modern wind turbines could replace the capacity of the dams on the Snake River, providing $6.6 million annual income to farmers and land owners, "a benefit that the dams certainly don't provide."

He doesn't say where the money tree is that will provide this $6.6 million-per-year benefit.
