New Rail Project for Portland

by Staff
World Trade Magazine, September 22, 2006

The Port of Portland has awarded a $2.25 million construction contract to BNSF Railway to improve trackage near the marine terminals.

The work is part of the Terminal 6 (T-6) Intermodal Third Rail Lead Project, which will provide better access to intermodal trains going in and out of the T-6 intermodal yard, while allowing simultaneous switching of automobile and intermodal trains on the existing leads, and create additional areas for staging unit trains.

The project is expected to begin this December and be completed by July 2007.
