Twin Falls Area Nitrates Targeted by Staff Capital Press, July 15, 2011

USDA cost-share funds are now available to farmers in the Twin Falls, Idaho, area to help them improve irrigation and crop nutrient management practices.

The Balanced Rock, Snake River and Twin Falls conservation districts recently received one of 31 cooperative conservation partnership initiatives announced nationwide. The funds will help protect ground-water quality and reduce nitrate levels.

Twin Falls County is the state's No. 1 high nitrate priority area.

Cooperators' fields will be enrolled for a three-year period. The initial sign-up period has begun and will remain open until early August.
