Real Crime is Taking Dollars
from Out-of-State Interests

by Brooks Montgomery
Idaho Statesman, August 29, 2007

So Larry Craig has finally come out of the "water closet." It's about time. He has been fighting his own demons at least since the early '80s when he was a congressman.

His real crime isn't the obscene hypocrisy with which he has lived and voted; but rather his perverse zeal in taking lobby dollars from out-of-state interests, especially in regards to his voting against salmon and steelhead recovery. His voting has always been little footsy games with the industries that have feathered his funky nest. Dams, mining interests, anti-wilderness legislation, out-of-state electricity, and subsidized farming have always been signaling him "on the other side of the stall."

All of Idaho should look forward to his resignation.
