		Grays Harbor PUD
		by Associated Press |
ABERDEEN, Wash. -- Grays Harbor PUD commissioners say they're reluctant to proceed with a proposed wind farm in Pacific County without better assurances about regulatory permits.
The Daily World reports commissioners are unwilling to shell out another $1.37 million without knowing whether they'll get eventual approval from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Energy Northwest is proposing an 82-megawatt wind farm on Radar Ridge near Naselle with Grays Harbor, Clallam, Pacific and Mason County PUDs.
Conservationists are concerned about the impacts of wind turbines to the marbled murrelet, a small seabird on the federal endangered species list.
New estimates put pre-construction costs at about $5.2 million. Grays Harbor has already spent $845,250.
