Rebuild Wild Salmon Stocks

by Kyle Martin
Letters to the Editor, The Oregonian, August 1, 2004

Judge Redden's ruling, in favor of water spilled over Pacific Northwest dams to help salmon, should send a clear signal to those evil-doers who advocate greed over environmental values. I want wild salmon stocks to rebound and not be gutted in order to increase the profits of Federal and private utilities. In fact, the Federal Government needs to do more, and not less, to help rebuild wild salmon stocks. The ruling is a victory for the salmon, the tribes, Gov. Kulongoski, and the decent people of the region.
