Spring Chinook Fishing Reopens Thursday Above Bonneville Dam in the Columbia River Mainstem by Mark Yuasa Seattle Times, May 27, 2015

State Fish and Wildlife has determined that enough spring chinook remains available to catch to reopen fishing on the Columbia River mainstem above Bonneville Dam.

Fishing will reopen Thursday, May 28 through Monday, June 15 from the Tower Island power lines (approximately six miles below The Dalles Dam) upstream to Oregon/Washington border, plus the Oregon and Washington banks between Bonneville Dam and the Tower Island power lines.

The daily limit is six hatchery chinook or steelhead, no more than two may be adult fish, and no more than one may be an adult spring chinook. Release all wild chinook and wild steelhead. Salmon minimum size: 12 inches.

The possession limit will allow up to four adult chinook in fresh form. Anglers aboard a boat may only possess one daily limit of salmon in fresh form.

Earlier this month, state Fish and Wildlife updated the spring chinook forecast to 260,000 fish, which created more liberal fishing season both above and below Bonneville Dam on the Columbia.

In addition, state Fish and Wildlife has lifted the boat boundary closure from Beacon Rock up to Bonneville Dam.

This will allow both boat and bank angling for salmon in the Columbia River mainstem from the Tongue Point/ Rocky Point line up to Bonneville Dam beginning Saturday, May 30.

The exact area this covers is from a deadline marker on the Oregon bank (approximately four miles downstream from Bonneville Dam Powerhouse 1) in a straight line through the western tip of Pierce Island to a deadline marker on the Washington bank at Beacon Rock.
