With a height of 717 feet , Dworshak is the third tallest dam in the United States and the tallest straight-axis concrete dam in the Western Hemisphere. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information on firms able to perform winding replacement and cavitation repair of the Unit 3 turbine-generator at the 402-MW Dworshak Dam hydroelectric project in Idaho. Responses are due Dec. 1.

The Corps' Walla Walla District took bids in July for temperature transmitters for installation at Dworshak on the North Fork Clearwater River. It said last year it planned to seek bids for head cover repair of Unit 3's 250-MW Francis turbine. The agency awarded a contract in 2013 to American Babbit Bearing Inc. to rehabilitate turbine guide bearings at Dworshak and the 810-MW Lower Granite project.

In a sources sought notice, the Corps now seeks information on firms able to perform winding replacement and cavitation repair on Dworshak Unit 3. The agency is to use responses to identify businesses with an interest in and capability to perform the work.

The work is expected to cost between $5 million and $10 million.

The sources sought notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W912EF15RSS09 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Responses are due Dec. 1. For information, contact Jani Long, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, 201 N. Third Ave., Walla Walla, WA 99362-1876; (1) 509-527-7209; E-mail: jani.c.long@usace.army.mil.
