Salmon To Go

by Bill Stevenson
Seattle Times, January 19, 2004

Why does anyone who cares for the environment wish to remove clean hydro-electrical generators from any river? Oh, right, to save salmon. If the letter writers supporting dam removal ("Fish Stew," Northwest Voices, Jan. 14) truly cared about salmon, they would take the first, most important step to increase the fish populations: they would stop their support for killing them. This means quit eating salmon for dinner, talk your friends out of eating it, boycott "save salmon" fund-raisers that sell smoked salmon dinners, and quit buying cat food featuring "real salmon."

I can't remember the last time I had a chance to eat bald eagle, spotted owl or grizzly bear.
