Tribal Fishing Season Opens on Columbia River by Bend.com News Sources The Bend Bulletin, July 1, 2005

SALEM - Fishery managers from Oregon and Washington, acting as the Columbia River Compact, today approved a treaty Indian commercial fishing season on the Columbia River, between Bonneville Dam and McNary Dam.

Tribal fishers will conduct a commercial gillnet fishery from 6 a.m. July 5 until 6 p.m. July 7. The season allows the tribes to sell their catch, including chinook, coho, sockeye, steelhead, walleye, carp, and shad.

The Compact further approved a proposal allowing commercial sales of platform and hook-and-line caught fish, beginning July 4.
