Several Hundred Take to Willamette River,
Willamette Park to Protest 4 Snake River Dams

by Bill Monroe
The Oregonian, June 25, 2022

Dozens of boaters, kayakers and canoe paddlers launched Saturday morning at Willamette Park to protest the continued operation of four dams on the lower Snake River. Pressure is mounting to breach the dams and help beleaguered salmon and steelhead runs. (photo Bill Monroe) Portland's penchant for protests moved from its streets Friday evening to its river Saturday.

An estimated 300 people took to the Willamette River in a welcome morning breeze, then rallied in Willamette Park to challenge the continued operation of four lower Snake River dams they (and scientists) say pose a threat to endangered salmon and steelhead.
