Ending on Snake River

Fishing below Ice Harbor Dam and near Clarkston closed
Fishing below Little Goose Dam open through holiday weekend

Fishermen display their catch of Chinook Salmon. The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife has closed some of the Snake River to spring chinook fishing immediately and will close more of the river after Memorial Day weekend.

The closed sections include areas below Ice Harbor Dam and near Clarkston.

At sunset May 30 the area below Little Goose Dam will close. Now fishing is allowed only on Sundays and Mondays. The section runs from the south side of the Snake River upstream of the mouth of the Tucannon River to the fishing restriction boundary below Little Goose Dam.

Based on current fish harvest estimates and the anticipated harvest at Little Goose through the holiday weekend, the state believes it is close to the planned harvest of 1,354 adult chinook.

In addition, the retention of white sturgeon of the John Day Pool of the Columbia River upstream to near McNary Dam will end May 29 until further notice.

Catch-and-release fishing will continue to be allowed. However, the area from the Interstate 82 bridge upstream to the McNary Dam is closed to all sturgeon fishing through the July 31.
