Let's Stop Wasting Money and Start Saving Salmon by Tom McGrath Idaho Statesman, May 31, 2009

I want to applaud the Obama administration for at long last reviewing the government's high-dollar, low-yield, Northwest salmon recovery plan. Last week, the administration sent a letter to Judge Redden, who is deciding the fate of our endangered salmon, asking for 30 to 60 days to review the latest recovery plan. Hopefully, a new administration can stop wasting our tax dollars and start saving our salmon. As a longtime Idaho resident and fisherman, I know that salmon recovery could mean millions of dollars for the state's economy, unquantifiable benefits for ecosystems, and some darn good fishing.

I hope the administration can ditch the past failed strategies and find new collaborative solutions for our salmon.
