Ice Harbor Dam on the lower Snake River in southeast Washington state. WALLA WALLA, Wash., U.S. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids for low-voltage and DC systems upgrades at the 603-MW Ice Harbor hydroelectric project on the Snake River in Washington. Bids are due Oct. 28.

The Corps' Walla Walla District took bids in April for design-build construction work at Ice Harbor and other hydro projects in the Snake River Basin of the Pacific Northwest.

The Corps currently seeks design, construction, and installation of an SQ2 low-voltage (480-volt) switchgear panel including new transformers, breakers, and annunciation. The work is to include new breakers in the existing SQ0 and SQ1 low-voltage switchgear panels and installation of new cabling as needed. The contract also is to include design, construction, and installation of new 125-volt DC battery system switchboards and chargers, including installation of new batteries and lifting, safety, and monitoring equipment.

The work is valued at $1 million to $5 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W912EF11R0012 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids are due Oct. 28. For information, contact Elaine M. Vandiver, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, 201 N. Third Ave., Walla Walla, WA 99362-1876; (1) 509-527-7221.

Corps to seek transformer installation at Ice Harbor

The Corps also plans to take bids for removal and replacement of the T6 transformer at Ice Harbor with a new 115-kilovolt three-phase transformer to be purchased under a separate contract.

The Walla Walla District said it expected to issue a solicitation for the work about Oct. 22, with bids to be due at least 30 days later.

In a set-aside for small business, the Corps plans to seek removal of the existing transformer and electrical components, plus installation of new transformer low-voltage, high-voltage, and high-voltage neutral connections, and other electrical and mechanical work. The work is valued at $1 million to $5 million.

A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W912EF12B0002 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.
