Asked to be Aware of Construction

by Staff
Walla Walla Union-Bulletin, March 27, 2014

Lower Granite Dam (USACE Digital Visual Library) POMEROY -- Visitors and anglers at Lower Granite Dam are being asked to avoid construction areas for a new barge mooring.

The north shore tailrace area just below the dam and gated access road to the tailrace will be closed during construction. A large construction staging area is located on the north shore and construction areas on the shore are fenced.

Boyer Park and the marina will remain open as well as the south shore visitor center and other nearby public areas. Dam vehicle crossings will not be affected.

Construction is expected to last for several more months and in mid-April will involve lifting and placement of large, heavy concrete beams.

Information is available from Park Ranger Chris Lorz at 509-843-1493, ext. 262.
