Work on Lower Granite will Cause Traffic Delays

by Staff
Lewiston Tribune, July 7, 2012

POMEROY - Work to install a 130-ton crane on Lower Granite Dam will lead to intermittent delays to those planning to drive across the dam Wednesday through July 22.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is paying a Canadian company - COH Inc. of Boisbriand, Quebec - $7.5 million to replace cranes at Lower Granite and Lower Monumental dams. Instillation of the crane at Granite will start Wednesday and lead to 30 to 45 minute delays throughout the day. On Thursday, the dam will be closed to vehicle crossings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On July 16 and 17, motorists can expect two- to three-hour delays throughout the day. The dam could close early at 5 p.m. on July 21 and 22.
