Lewiston Port Eyes Savings on Dock Project

by Associated Press
Idaho State Journal, April 21, 2013

Officials with the Port of Lewiston say a bid to expand its container dock came in about $400,000 below estimates.

Port Manager David Doeringsfeld tells the Lewiston Tribune in a story published Saturday that Advanced American Construction of Portland, Ore., submitted the low bid of $2.23 million.

Doeringsfeld says that's below the engineer's estimate of $2.7 million.

The project will add 150 feet to the port's 125-foot dock, allowing two barges to dock at the same time.

Doeringsfeld says the port expects to award the bid within two weeks after reviewing all the submitted proposals.

He says four other bids were also below the engineer's estimate.
