Idaho Power Executives Reassigned Because of Resignation by Ken Dey Idaho Statesman, June 22, 2004

John Prescott had overseen operation of hydroelectric plants

John Prescott, Idaho Power Co. vice president of power supply, is leaving the company at the end of this month.

Prescott, who spent 22 years with the company and is responsible for operation of the company's 17 hydroelectric plants, said Monday that it was his decision to leave the company.

"I was just ready for a change and I'm exploring some other opportunities," Prescott said. "I'm excited to be going out and exploring the world after 22 years."

Because of Prescott's departure, three other company executives have been promoted or given additional duties.

Prescott, who declined to elaborate on his plans, was appointed to his current position in 1999. During his tenure he oversaw the company's efforts to gain new licenses from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for the company's Snake River hydropower dams. The most controversial of those efforts has involved the current relicensing process for the company's three Hells Canyon dams.

Although he isn't staying to see the relicensing effort through, Prescott said he's not worried.

"I worked on it for a long time, but it's in good hands, and I'm confident it will be successful," Prescott said.

An Idaho native, Prescott has a bachelor of science degree in general engineering from Idaho State University and a master of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho.

When Prescott leaves, Idaho Power's vice president of delivery, Jim Miller, 49, will become the new senior vice president of power supply. Miller has been with the company for 27 years.

Dan Minor, 47, the company's vice president of administrative resources and human resources, will assume Miller's former responsibilities as senior vice president of delivery. Minor is a 19-year veteran of the company.

The company also announced that Darrel Anderson, 46, vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer, will expand his duties to include the title of senior vice president of finance and administration. Anderson has been with the company for nine years.

"These changes reflect the strength and experience of our leadership team and its ability to quickly and smoothly adapt to changes," Idaho Power President and Chief Operating Officer J. LaMont Keen said in a statement. "Each of these individuals has a proven track record of accomplishments which I fully expect to continue growing as they take on these new and exciting responsibilities."
