Hapag-Lloyd container ship, will no longer be calling on the Port of Portland. PORTLAND, OR -- Already hit hard by the loss of its biggest customer, Hanjin, the Port of Portland has lost yet another shipping company.

German carrier Hapag-Lloyd delivered its last ship to Portland on March 28, according to the port.

Hanjin said it stopped doing business in Portland because of the ongoing labor dispute between the union and the port operator that the company said increased its costs and limited its productivity.

Only one company, Westwood Shipping, continues to do business at the port.

The Port of Portland said container shipping, like that done by Hanjin and Hapag-Lloyd only makes up about 10 percent of its overall marine shipping business.

The remainder of its business, which hasn't been affected, comes from shipping of automobiles, grains and other bulk goods.
